At the Global Greens Congress, being held in Liverpool from the 30th of March, to the 2nd of April, a new Global Network is set to join the current 3 networks. The Global Greens LGBT+ Network has its inaugural meeting on the Saturday of Congress. The network which “aims to facilitate networking and cooperation between LGBT+ groups in Green Parties across the world.” is being set-up by the current Equaities (LGBTIQA+) Spokesperson for the Green Party of England and Wales – Aimee Challenor, and one of the founders of Queer Green Victoria in Australia – Sean Mulcahy.

The formation of the Global Greens LGBT+ Network brings the amount of Global Greens Networks up to 4, with the LGBT+ Network joining the Global Greens Women’s Network, the Global Young Greens, and the Global Greens Parliamentarians Network.

Interim Co-Convener – Aimee Challenor commented; “We’re seeing international participation in politics grow, and with the rising support for LGBT+ rights around the world, we see this as the perfect time to set up the Global Greens LGBT+ Network so that LGBT+ groups in Green Parties around the world have a forum work together, support each other, and create effective change.”

The launch will involve ratifying the proposed Constitution, as well as electing members of the network steering committee.

More information on the Global Greens LGBT+ Network can be found on their website and bookings for the Global Greens Congress are now open here.
