UK Uncut protesters have been arrested in Edinburgh and Manchester.

In Manchester, 9 people were held, according to the BBC, on “suspicion of breach of the peace”.

In Edinburgh, 2 people were also arrested on suspicion of breach of the peace outside BHS. According to protesters at the scene, the arresting officer had said that the banner they held posed a “health and safety threat” as people may trip over it.

Protesters are now congregating outside the St Leonard’s Police Station in the city. The Edinburgh Uncut group have said on Twitter:

“If you can’t get down to show support for the @EdinburghUncut two, why not send a message of complaint to @lbpolice about polical policing?”

Lothian and Borders police have a recent track record of arresting peaceful protesters: on the 15th May, Edinburgh Uncutter and Bright Green co-editor Alasdair Thomson was arrested in BHS for holding a banner.

It currently looks like the other 38 actions across the country took place with no arrests.
