Global Greens LGBT+ Network to launch at Congress2017
At the Global Greens Congress, being held in Liverpool from the 30th of March, to the 2nd of April, a new Global Network is set to join the current 3 networks. The Global Greens LGBT+ Network has its inaugural meeting on the Saturday of Congress. The network which “aims to facilitate networking and cooperation between LGBT+ groups in Green Parties across the world.” is being set-up by the current Equaities (LGBTIQA+) Spokesperson for the Green Party of England and Wales – Aimee Challenor, and one of the founders of Queer Green Victoria in Australia – Sean Mulcahy.
The formation of the Global Greens LGBT+ Network brings the amount of Global Greens Networks up to 4, with the LGBT+ Network joining the Global Greens Women’s Network, the Global Young Greens, and the Global Greens Parliamentarians Network.
Interim Co-Convener – Aimee Challenor commented; “We’re seeing international participation in politics grow, and with the rising support for LGBT+ rights around the world, we see this as the perfect time to set up the Global Greens LGBT+ Network so that LGBT+ groups in Green Parties around the world have a forum work together, support each other, and create effective change.”
The launch will involve ratifying the proposed Constitution, as well as electing members of the network steering committee.
