Placards from a protest against austerity in the UK

Campaigners are set to descend on Manchester in October for a ‘festival of resistance’. Organised by the People’s Assembly, there will be a series of events and protests to coincide with the Conservative Party conference which is taking place from October 1-4.

On October 1, campaigners will converge in a national demonstration seeking to create a ‘united voice to kick the Tories out’. At the end of the demonstration, attendees will be addressed by a number of high profile figures across the British left, with former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, RMT general secretary Mick Lynch and CND general secretary Kate Hudson among the speakers.

Alongside the demonstration, the People’s Assembly has organised a series of other events on labour movement solidarity, climate justice and austerity. On October 2, an additional demonstration will be taking place to coincide with the Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s speech to the conference.

More detail on the national demonstration can be found on the People’s Assembly website.
