More than two dozen MPs have called for a ban on imports from Israeli settlements in Palestine. They’ve signed an Early Day Motion (EDM) in parliament making the demand.

This follows the International Court of Justice calling for all states to abstain from entering economic and trade dealings with Israel where it relates to its involvement within Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Signatories to the EDM said they were “concerned that UK Government rules allow settlement goods into the UK and British retailers and businesses can sell settlement goods or provide services to settlements”.

The EDM went on to call for “the UK Government to ban the importation of goods originating from Israeli settlements and to prohibit companies domiciled in the UK from selling settlement goods and providing services to settlements.”

Green MP Ellie Chowns tabled the EDM, which has been signed by 33 MPs at the time of writing.
