Frank Adlington-Stringer to stand for Green Party deputy leadership
Another day, another candidate announced for the Green Party deputy leadership election. As of today, there are no less than seven candidates publicly announced to be in the running.
Today, North East Derbyshire councillor Frank Adlington-Stringer announced he’s standing.
Adlington-Stringer has come to prominence in the Green Party as a result of his regular and engaging social media content, particularly on Instagram.
Announcing his candidacy on social media, Adlington-Stringer said he was well placed to be the party’s next deputy leader due to his successes running elections, his social media experience and that he had the time and energy to devote to grassroots campaigning.
Speaking on his announcement, Adlington-Stringer told Bright Green: “This is a decisive moment in our party’s history, and a crucial moment for the direction of our country. I believe that the Green Party has the potential to fill the void of despair and offer a credible alternative, but only if we maximise our electoral strategy and ramp up our social media success. I am honoured to have been nominated by so many inspiring Green colleagues who believe that my skills and experience give us a fighting chance. I hope even more of you will join me and together we will choose hope over hate”
The full list of deputy leadership candidates in the running so far are as follows:
- Thomas Daw
- Antoinette Fernandez
- Mothin Ali
- Ani Townsend
- Rachel Millward
- Chas Marlow
- Frank Adlington-Stringer
I was a bit concerned to read a BBC article suggesting that Frank was anti-solar farms https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65926756 Frank has suggested to me that the article is out of date and inaccurate, which is good to hear. I do think all GPEW leadership candidates should be asked if they support solar farms, new electricity infrastructure and wind farm expansion. With climate change accelerating, so important to accelerate net zero.
