Chas Warlow

The race to be the next deputy leader of the Green Party of England and Wales is becoming a crowded field. A sixth individual has announced their intention to stand in the election for the post this summer.

In a post on Instagram, Chas Warlow revealed he’s planning to stand for the deputy leadership.

Green Parties aren’t known for being conventional, but Warlow’s announcement might be one of the least conventional announcements for a major office in any British political party.

In his video, Warlow simply said:  “Urgent news: I’m standing to be deputy leader of the Green Party. More to come later.”

The five other candidates currently announced for the deputy leadership are as follows:

  • Thomas Daw
  • Antoinette Fernandez
  • Ani Townsend
  • Mothin Ali
  • Rachel Millward

The deadline for nominations in both the leadership and deputy leadership election for the Green Party is midday June 30.
