Caroline, I am a member of the Australian Greens, previously a candidate in many elections, now living in Costa Rica.
I applaud what you say about the selling of weapons to oppressive regimes. Britain may have to relinquish the fiction that they are achieving something worthwhile by heavily subsidising the lethal industries, doing secret deals with despots, involving government in corruption, implicating the Royal family in sordid deals.
Lets have an ethical foreign policy, fewer wars, less secrecy, more emphasis on human security – less on state security. It will mean that there are no weapons for Colonel Gaddafi and no need to infiltrate Libya with mercenaries.
