The Greens are quickly catching up with the Lib Dems in YouGov polls.

The Greens are averaging over 5% in YouGov polls for the first time ever.

Britain Elects’ analysis of polling by the company since the start of July shows a steady increase in support for the party, to the point where the Greens are now nearly neck-and-neck with the Lib Dems.

The data mirrors polling by other companies, with surveys recently showing the Greens pushing the Lib Dems into fifth place.

Meanwhile the most recent YouGov poll puts the Greens on 19% among 18-24 year olds – ahead of UKIP and the Lib Dems combined.

Since YouGov polling traditionally under-represents the Greens compared to other companies, the findings will put further pressure on the major broadcasters to invite the Greens onto the televised General Election debates next year.
