300+ people attend Zack Polanski’s campaign launch
More than 300 people attended the formal launch of Zack Polanski’s bid for the leadership of the Green Party on 11 May. At the event, held on Zoom, attendees heard from Polanski about his plans for the leadership campaign.
They also heard from a number of prominent people within the Green Party about why they’re backing Polanski’s candidacy.
Wales Green Party leader Anthony Slaughter was among those to speak at the event. He told the meeting: “I believe Zack is the person to take us to the next level and get our voice out there.” He later added that Polanski was the candidate who could “stand up to the snake oil salesmen and far right grifters”.
Also speaking at the event was one of Polanski’s colleagues on the London Assembly, Zoe Garbett. At the meeting, she described Polanski as being the “bold leader that we need”, adding that “he works with passion and empathy” on the London Assembly.
Alongside Garbett and Slaughter, former Green MEP and the party’s current work and social security spokesperson Catherine Rowett also appeared at the event, telling attendees that Polanski would provide “provocative, loud and clear” leadership.
In his comments at the meeting, Polanski criticised those who were sceptical of his campaign by virtue of him not being in the House of Commons, telling the meeting: “It is absolute nonsense that our next leader should be an MP.”
