Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner goes Green
The Green Party seems to be winning in Westeros as actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, has told The Telegraph that she supports the Green Party.
When asked if she was interested in politics, she replied: “Of course I am. I care about who runs the country. My family have always voted Labour but I think I’m more Green Party. My childhood was so country-based, I want to protect that. I feel passionate about things like that.”
Nineteen-year old Turner is not unusual for her age group as a poll in January found that the Green Party is the joint second most popular party among 18-24 year olds, with 22% support.
Neither is she the only Game of Thrones star to be backing the Greens. Rory McCann, who plays evil King Joffrey’s enforcer ‘The Hound’ appeared in the Scottish Green Party’s 2007 election broadcast.
