Emily O’Brien: Why I want to be the Green Party candidate for Brighton Pavilion
Caroline Lucas, the Green Party’s sole MP has announced she won’t be re-standing at the next general election. As a result, the Greens are in the process of selecting a new candidate. Three people have put their names forward – and Bright Green is planning to interview them all.
The first is Emily O’Brien, a councillor in Lewes and the Green Party’s spokesperson on food, agriculture and rural welfare. Our editor Chris Jarvis spoke to Emily about why she’s standing, her political priorities and why she thinks she’s the right person to replace Caroline Lucas.
