More than 100,000 people have signed a petition calling for Donald Trump to be blocked from speaking at the House of Commons as part of his state visit to the UK. The petition comes ahead of Trump’s planned visit in September 2025.

The petition says that ‘Trump’s hate fuelled rhetoric has no place in our parliament’, and argues that if Trump were to address the Commons it would be a ‘national embarrassment’.

The petition reads: “Trump could be handed the rare privilege of addressing our Parliament when he visits the UK. Rolling out the red carpet to butter him up on trade or Ukraine is one thing. Giving him a platform in the heart of our democracy is another. Especially when Trump and his team have repeatedly belittled Britain, disrespected our troops, and shown little regard for our democratic values.”

At the time of publishing, 132,008 people had signed the petition, which is hosted by 38 Degrees. It is addressed to the Speaker of the House of Commons and is calling on him to block Trump from speaking.
